Usage Notes

Scan the raw barcode data from the back of a California ID or driver license. This tool is configured for 21+ verification. Click inside the barcode field and scan the back of the ID using a 2D PDF417 scanner. Most scanners act like a keyboard and will paste the raw AAMVA barcode data automatically. The application will process the encoded data to calculate age and display the result.

Important: This tool only evaluates the encoded date of birth and expiration date contained within the barcode. It does not verify the authenticity of the identification document, detect fraudulent IDs, or confirm that the person presenting the ID is the legitimate holder.

Important: Browser-based photo decoding for PDF417 barcodes can vary depending on the browser and device used. Hardware scanners remain the most reliable method for scanning identification barcodes.
